I met Howard!!! I sprung for the VIP meet and greet for this one, and it was well worth it. I’d seen the band twice before in their previous incarnation as Devil You Know, and met Fran and Ryan at the merch table after the 2nd time in Buffalo. But this was the first time meeting Howard and new drummer Mike Sciulara. Each band member was really cool and took some time to chat as opposed to just rolling through the picture/autograph assembly line. Good stuff.

We had some time between the meet and greet and the show itself, so shout out to whoever mentioned the bar next door for food – my burger at Beer Belly Deli was awesome!

As for the show itself, the openers were either Rochester or Syracuse bands, all of which put on quality sets. Poison the Prophet I’d seen a couple times before when they were Million Miles From Broadway, and this version of the band was really good. Two singers, some catchy riffs, it made for a good time. Murder in Rue Morgue was a straight-up metal band and they rocked it also. Cry to the Blind was alright, a bit lighter than I would have guessed for a show like this, but decent all the same.

I was pumped for Light The Torch, as while I liked the two Devil You Know albums a lot, I like Revival even better. They didn’t disappoint – the band rocked, Howard was all over the stage screaming and singing his head off, and the crowd was into it. They still dropped in a couple DYK tunes (Embracing the Torture, Consume the Damned, The Way We Die), and the new songs sounded fantastic. I got to hear my favorites (Calm Before The Storm, Lost in the Fire, Die Alone) so I was happy as a clam, and the other songs were just as good. The entire night was a blast!

The Bitter End
Embracing the Torture
Calm Before the Storm
Lost in the Fire
Virus
Consume the Damned
The Safety of Disbelief
The Sound of Violence
The God I Deserve
The Way We Die
Die Alone
