Review:

Released in 2005, this was a holdover of sorts until the new album (Saturday Night Wrist) was released. Having said that, and I know this echoes what practically every Deftones fan said when this was released, this could have been waaaaaaay better than what it is. If youre going to release a compilation called B-Sides and Rarities, why not put them all on there’ Left off was, among other things, To Have And To Hold (Duran Duran), Teething (Crow II Sountrack), Cant Even Breathe (Escape From LA Soundtrack), Lovers (self-titled b-side), and maybe some of the more famous demos floating around on the net. Or the scrapped My Own Summer remix that was slated for the Matrix soundtrack’ Also, the DVD has all the videos, but only a quick smattering of the tons of live clips and interviews theyve amassed over the years. Wheres the White Pony mini-film’ Argh.

Anyway, for what is on this disc, its pretty good. A previously unreleased track with B-Real called Black Moon, Savory, Wax and Wane, and a couple of acoustic versions and remixes make for a good, but not great collection. The DVD is nice in that all the videos are represented, with Engine No. 9 and Root being live clip compilations. All in all, its okay, but it could have been so much better.
