Chris Cornell decides he’s rocked enough, and makes a very electronic pop album, with Timbaland producing. Interesting doesn’t begin to describe it.

Buckcherry – 2008 – Black Butterfly

#Too Drunk…

#Child Called “It”
#Don’t Go Away
#Fallout
#Rose
#All of Me
#Imminent Bail Out
#Cream

Review:

Stolen from Amazon:
The California Quintet, Buckcherry Returns with BLACK BUTTERFLY, a 12 song set that strides forward with the kind of confidence and spirit you’d expect from a band that feels it constantly has more to prove BLACK BUTTERFLY captures the band’s ability to master a diverse repertoire of songs. The album erupts with fierce, fast-paced rock tracks like “Rescue Me” and “A Child Called `It’.” Yet “Don’t Go Away” is a melodic, mid-tempo plea “about being vulnerable, longing to be with a loved one but feeling so far away,” Todd says. Buckcherry does throw a bit of a curveball out of the box on BLACK BUTTERFLY. The first single, “Too Drunk…,” is a slinky and sexy track that takes the band in yet another kind of direction, while still retaining a muscular, rocking core. Buckcherry hopes to continue that path with BLACK BUTTERFLY.

Review:

Stolen from Amazon:
From the ashes of legendary Strong Island metal-core band Vision of Disorder oozes A Cruel World, the debut album from Bloodsimple, the first signing to Mudvayne singer Chad Gray’s Bullygoat imprint. Produced by Garth Richardson and propelled by the explosive voice of Tim Williams, Bloodsimple ranges from soul-searing sensory overload to soul-searching soundscapes, without compromising either. Simply put, Bloodsimple is unlike any hardcore band you have ever heard.

Review:

I admit it all the time, I’m a sucker for slickly-produced, *good* pop and R&B. If Justin Timberlake isn’t the poster boy for just that, I’m not sure who is. Am I spinning this 24/7 and memorizing every word’ I’m afraid not. However, every once in awhile this is a fun listen.

Serj Tankian – 2007 – Elect the Dead

By Eric | December 23, 2013 1:00 am

Artist: Serj Tankian
Title: Elect the Dead
Label: Serjical Strike / Reprise
Released: Oct 23, 2007
Packaging: Digipack
Pack-in DVD
Release Type: Standard
Autographed

Tracklist:

#Empty Walls

#Money
#Feed Us
#Saving Us
#Sky Is Over
#Baby
#Honking Antelope
#Lie Lie Lie
#Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition
#Beethoven’s C***
#Elect the Dead

Review:

Serj’s solo album is a touch more refined that the usual System of a Down song, musically speaking. Lyrically, Serj is as frenetic as ever, and just as political. If you liked System, you’ll like the solo effort.

Slash’s Snakepit – 2000 – Ain’t Life Grand

By Eric | December 23, 2013 1:00 am

Artist: Slash’s Snakepit
Title: Ain’t Life Grand
Label: Koch
Released: Oct 10, 2000
Packaging: Jewel Case
Pack-in DVD
Release Type: Standard
Autographed

Tracklist:

#Been There Lately
#Just Like Anything
#Shine
#Mean Bone
#Back To The Moment
#Life’s Sweet Drug
#Serial Killer
#The Truth
#Landslide
#Ain’t Life Grand
#Speed Parade
#The Alien

Review:

This Snakepit album has Slash as the only thing in common, the rest of the band is completely different. About what you’d expect from a Slash solo album, the songs rock, and he solos just as well as he always had. It wasn’t a chartbuster, but it’s a solid listen.
