Review:
The super-long-awaited side project from Chino Moreno of the Deftones finally came out in 2005. I say finally because there were live shows, leaked tracks, and postponments dating back to 2001, and this final product is a bit different than how it started out. In any event, these tracks are a far cry from anything the Deftones have done, they’re much more electronic, somber, ethereal and slower. To me, its an “atmosphere” record, something to listen to and take in without the tracks being in-your-face.

The first “full-band” solo album from the former Soul Coughing lead singer. The songs are mostly acoustic, catchy, and thoroughly well-written. A very fun listen.

Review:
The CD portion of this is half covers, and half instrumentals. The covers are of songs that served as Wes Borland’s inspiration to play music in the first place, featuring bands like Duran Duran, Love and Rockets, Iggy Pop and such. There’s even a “cover” of a Big Dumb Face song on here as well (Blood Red Head On Fire). The instrumentals are pieces that didn’t make the cut for Cruel Melody. Also included is a DVD with a documentary of the album and tour, plus extras. Since I pre-ordered online, I also got a shirt with the order.

Review:
One of the better rock bands that unfortunately flew under the radar. This live disc captures them in all their glory, playing an 11-song set with all the favorites. Skorn is especially cool, as they work Ludacris’ “Get Back” into the middle with a great deal of success. It also includes a brand-new studio track tacked onto the end, called “Don’t Turn Away”.

Review:
First off, I got this for 8 bucks, and for a CD/DVD combo, that’s a pretty great price. I like these guys enough to shell out that much for it. Having said that, almost every other live album I have blows this out of the water. The sound is kinda muddy, not super clear (did they even get this off the soundboard’) I was happy enough with the track listing, that is, until I popped the DVD in, and found out that they left songs off the CD part! The CD is only 50-some minutes long, so it’s not like they didn’t have room. I’ve read other Amazon reviews complaining about sticking the studio version of Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” in the middle, but I can overlook that as kind of an intermission (plus the cover is actually really good). Eh, it was 8 bucks, and the DVD was probably worth that alone, so I’m good on it.

Review:
So Trevor finally got some new dudes in the band, and put out another album. The production is a bit sparser than TDYK, more in the direction of what was started on Brand New History, not as over-produced. It’s a solid album, and as somewhat-secret track 23 it features a remake of You Don’t Know What It’s Like. Good luck finding this one in the States.

Maroon 5 before they were Maroon 5. This was originally released in 1997, and once M5 got popular, they re-released it to a wider (and more accepting) audience.

Review:
This isn’t the same Finger Eleven I fell in love with. Where as Greyest and Tip are awesome records front to back, both the self-titled and this one are in the 50%-60% range, with too many mid-tempo generic songs. I remember downloading this just after it leaked, and thinking, “Where are the F11 songs'” Even self-titled had “Good Times” on it, this one just felt “blah”. Paralyzer is the obvious radio hit, and the only song I really really like on here is Lost My Way. Other than those two, this album is ok approaching good, but nowhere near great.
