Review:
The Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland had an annual Blues Night, and in 1982 SRV was asked to play. He put on an amazing performance, but the audience greeted him with nothing but boos and disdain. Fortunately, David Bowie and Jackson Browne were in attendance, and both afforded SRV praise and opportunity to jump start his career. SRV returned to Montreux in 1985 triumphantly, and won the crowd over this time. This 2-cd set includes the SRV set from both years. Johnny Copeland sits in for Tin Pan Alley from the 1985 set.

Review:
The first album SRV did sober turned out to be his best. The songs were even stronger, as was his singing. Even though it’s blues, the optimism that is pervasive throughout the disc makes for an upbeat listen.

Review:
Recorded on October 4, 1984, the tracks feature the usual band plus some guests, notably SRV’s brother Jimmie, Dr. John, and the Roomful of Blues Horns. The band plays perfectly alongside the guests and the sound is amazing.
