Tuesday, August 13th, 2002Well, the show was good, (finally got neon crossing!) the ride back was anything but… when I have more time, I’ll spill the whole story, lets just say Eric doesn’t like to drive with no headlights at 3am…. I did make it home eventually (at 4am!) and took the day off so I could get it fixed (and get some semblence of sleep).
Blah. In the words of Nonpoint… What A Day.
housewarming for brooke
Sunday, August 11th, 2002Saturday ended up being kind of an aimless day… Sara thought she was going to get called into work, then they called and said they didnt need her, so she was gonna go in at 5 like she was supposed to, and she’d be the first one to go home, usually like 9ish. Which was actually important for once, because we had Brooke’s housewarming party to go to! (More on that later). So after wasting a bunch of time in the morning after I got up, I picked up Sara, and we hit one lame garage sale in Tonawanda, then the Salvo on Military, and of course Frizb’s 🙂 (Gotta love 4 for $10!) I picked up the last Bush CD I didnt have (Science of things), the 2nd Tonic CD, Local H, and a band called Skunk Anansie, who I heard about because the female lead singer did a track with Sevendust. woohoo! After that we picked up lunch at the Bvld mall, and Sara had to get ready to go to work, so I dropped her back off about 3:30. I proceeded to go out Niagara Falls way, stopped at Media Play, and the Goodwill across the street from the Factory Outlet Mall. Goodwill was kind to me…. Finally got Atari paddles, and two more games! (River Raid and Berzerk!) Then went to the mall itself, and finally got some books at the discount book store. I got the NASA Mission Control book I’ve been lusting after forever, the book of Lincoln’s speeches (Dr F will be thrilled!), and a little surprise for Karl (dunno if he reads this, so I’m not giving it away, you’ll find out monday!). So I came back from there, and vegged out at home for a while. Never really did eat dinner, just lounged. Sara finally got let out of work about 10ish, and me, her and Adrienne finally hit the road to Brooke’s place about 11. Brooke was our high school valedictorian, and is going to UB to get her MBA in Corporate Finance. Her and her boyfriend got an apartment near Gates Circle Hospital in the city, and had a party to “open it up”. We turned out to be the only people from high school there, but being the socal butterflies that we are, that didn’t matter, and of course, we ended up knowing mutual people… one of Brooke’s friends, Roy, lives down in Nassau county and knows (or at least knows of) Dan! So the night was fun, catching up with Brooke and meeting her friends and all that. We didn’t leave till about 2:30, and Sara needed to get a card (and food, of course!), so before we went home, we stopped at Wegmans… mmmm… iced animal cookies.. aaaarrrrrrghghghgghhghg 🙂 So finally got to bed about 4, and up at 11… not too shabby 🙂

rockin the outback alley
Saturday, August 10th, 2002Work friday was kinda slow, I did a couple of odds and ends jobs, and then in the afternoon I got to go back to the peace bridge, more bus terminal fun, ghosted a machine or two…
Got home from work, the parents and Jake went to Corning to check out the glass museum, so me and Amanda went to Outback. We actually had a great waiter, but the moron cooks in the back kept putting bacon on Amanda’s cheese fries, so they took forever. We had no less than 3 different people apologize, and we got a free appetizer card out of it! A quick shot to the thrift store on the Boulevard (where we saw a woman switch prices on a candle… its like, you gotta cheat the freakin salvation army? how low are you?) and we were back home. Called up Adrienne, and went to one of the more unique events I’ve been to in awhile… Rock-n-Bowl! Voelkers Bowling Alley, on the corner of Elmwood and Amherst in buffalo, has local bands come in and play, and for $10, you get the show, two games of bowling, and the shoes! So I got to try out my new bowling ball (the $2 thrift store special!), and lets just say, my ball kicks ass! The whole reason for going was that hollowpoint was playing, and they were on first, so me and Adrienne watched them, then started bowling… got a couple beers, then Andy and Scott from hp, plus Scotts girlfiriend Gretchen joined us for bowling…. we had a most excellent time (yes way Ted!), me and Adrienne drove around for awhile afterwards, and I rolled into home about 1, and bed was not far behind. 🙂
So now it’s 11am, and I have no plan whatsoever… 🙂

running out of dope

Running Out Of Dope? – wookubus
(4:24 PM PST 08/02/2002)
Following what is rumored to be the recent departure of band guitarist Acey Slade who is said to have now joined The Murderdolls on a permanent basis, filling the position originally held by Static-X guitarist Tripp Eisen; Dope are now rumored to have been dealt another blow with band keyboardist Simon Dope being the latest to leave the fold. Simon is said to have gotten out of the music industry altogether and is currently working a day job, though no official word has come down as of yet.
Wow. Geez Edsel, you know its getting pretty bad when your lose the best member of your band, and your little retarded brother (that mom made you let into the band or else you couldn’t play) leaves the band for a DAY JOB. He couldn’t handle hitting just one key on the keyboard and that lonely little cymbal you gave him…. too much stress! Ah well, I guess you still have Virus to entertain yourself with!
Anyone else find it funny that Acey keeps taking Tripp’s place in these bands? What’s next? Tripp leaves Static-X and Acey shows up knocking on the doorstep? “Hi guys I’m here! I’m Tripp v2.0!!! I fit right in!”
a bad NIC fixed my blues
Monday, July 29th, 2002Okay, aside from the fact that my internet connection was down all weekend, through no fault of Adelphia’s it turns out, (one of the two NIC’s in homebase crapped out, the one that the cable modem was connected to), this weekend was a virtual whirlwind of fun and excitement, if not high in the hours-slept column 🙂
Friday night Mary came over and we went for a walk by the river. It was a nice night out, not terribly hot, not a lot of bugs, etc. Just a nice leisurely stroll, walking and talking. We got some food afterwards (where else but Denny’s??) and chilled at home for a bit longer. Steven Lynch was on Comedy Central… that dude is a riot! I actually got to bed at like 12 friday night, a new record for me! (Lack of internet = more sleep!)
Saturday I woke up around 10, poked around home for awhile doing not much of anything, and then decided to take a trip up to Rochester, check out the old stomping grounds, specifically the record stores and the thrift shops! I picked up the first Down album, and finally got a copy of Adema. The thrift stores didn’t yield much of anything, save for a NIN “Fixed” shirt that I already have, but this one was an XL and will actually fit… Sara’s getting the large one I had previously to perform “sparklization” and make it look less like a t-shirt and more like a work of art… heheh! So I hit the mall for dinner (God there’s nothing at Marketplace I wanna go into anymore!) and when I came back to my apartment, Scott, Katie and friends had just come back from the Rennasiance Festival, so I had tons of company! It was a bunch of kids from NT that Katie had graduated with (they graduated the year after I did). About 9 Rachel got ahold of me, went and picked her up, and we went out to Irondequoit to the pier. They have movies on the beach on Saturday nights up there, I never knew this! We didn’t watch it (Ocean’s Eleven), but you could hear it all the way out on the pier… I never realized how dark it was out at the end, you could actually see stars in the sky 🙂 A couple car-radio sing-a-longs later, and we were back at RIT, where we sat up talking way past my bedtime 🙂 fun fun 🙂
Sunday morning came too quickly 🙂 hehe! (need sleep!) I went out with the parents to this mega-garage sale on the Boulevard, and then me and Dad tried finding replacement bolts for my alternator mount, to no avail, the search continues! (case hardened automotive bolts anyone??) About 3ish it was time for the Blues! One short jog the wrong way down a one way street later (haha!) we parked and ventured in. For $10, this show was definately worth it. There’ll be a show review in concerts section eventually, but the two bands that stood out were a local group called Willie and the Rheinharts, and a younger kid from Atlanta named Sean Costello. Quite impressed with both of them! We stayed till about 9’oclock, then me and Dad both were getting tired. We’re on Twin cities on the way home, and who calls Dad’s cell? Adrienne! haha… Amanda gave her the number, they’d been trying to get ahold of me all afternoon 🙂 So Dad drops me off at Danielles (I missed most of her going-away party,, *sniff* sorry!) just as Bill and Leah are leaving. ah well. So we end up shooting pool and discussing Life, The Universe and Everything. 🙂 I was coerced into an “Alabama Slammer” shot, which when warm, tasted like Robitussin 🙂 eheh! Danielle’s dad graciously dropped us all off at home, and I was expecting to go to bed, when Dad calls the Adelphia people. After sitting on the phone with them, we determine that their service is up, and our NIC is bad. So we have internet on the main box, but no one else in the house does. New second NIC coming up! So by the time anyone reads this, the new one will be in and functional 🙂

a rumor of bauhaus bleeding the sky
Friday, July 26th, 2002Yeehaa! Havent blogged in two days or so, I’m not dead, really! Wednesday I went out with Sara down the Boulevard, up Niagara Falls way, stopped off at the Salvation Army (it was actually open! Its always closed when I go by!) Sara found a Hedwig shirt, so she was all ecstatic (much more so about the new guy at work, but I digress…) So we continued on to the Factory Outlet Mall (goodwill was closed by this time), and as per usual, had to hit the music store in there (Music 4 Less? Hardly!) They had a clearance table out front, and actually had some rather current CD’s that had the wrapping taken off, but most had the top sticker still on them. So I picked up Reveille’s Bleed The Sky for $2!!! (boy am I glad I didnt spend $8 at Frizb’s like I was going to!) It doesn’t have the Inside Out remix with Scooter on it, but for $2, I think I can live without it. After that we went to Target to kill time till Danielle called, which she did, and we headed over there, to finally reformat her parents computer. They are now happily up and running again, with ALL NEW AOL 7.0!!!! (hahahaha). Figures, the only problems I had with the whole thing? Yep, AOL. It wanted to pick a fight with the modem. Eventually we got them talking and they’re back online.
Thursday was a hectic day at work, in the morning I set up a replacement machine for the Peace Bridge bus terminal, so they can handle the influx of people that are gonna be coming back from the Pope’s visit in Toronto. Glad I’m not an inspector this weekend! My afternoon was spent showing new laptop users how to dial into the building and get their mail, etc. I’m getting quite good at configuring these things.
Anyway, I went food shopping with the parents after dinner, thats always a good time 🙂 After we got back, Amanda just got home from work, and she was going out with her friends to Rumors for 80’s night. So guess who else went… hehe! I dragged Sara and Danielle, and then did what I thought I was gonna do saturday, sat and watched hehe. Sara doesnt dance either, so we just surveyed the dance floor. I did answer a trivia question though! They showed a Peter Murphy video (they got a nice video screen at this place, with a BARCO!!), and the question was, what 80s band was he the lead singer of? Well, I remember reading that the guy from cool for august was a big fan of this guy (and sounds exactly like him), and all that, so I knew this dude was the lead singer of Bauhaus (FYI, Wayne Static wears a Bahaus shirt in the X-Ecutioners video!). Like 5 people went up to the DJ and didn’t know! I had it right away, but didnt go up, and sara’s like, dude go! Ok fine, so I finally went, no one else knew it, and I got beads for the girls (they were doing this Mardi Gras thing) and a CD (not an 80’s cd though! It was Vanessa Carlton, that “Im playing my piano driving down the street video chick” hehe!). So other than that, I occupied a stool for the entire night… We left at 1, Amanda and Co, prolly closed the place down. (And oh yeah, there were no bikers to be seen on Clifton Hill anywhere, they were all at the Canadian Ballet!)
Looks like its gonna be a slow one here at work today… nice and relaxing, no stress
Current mood: just coasting

erie capers
Sunday, July 21st, 2002…and I’m back. Twas a fun weekend in Erie, I got down there about 8 on friday night, couldn’t figure out the callbox on the front of the building, so luckily Adrienne saw me through the window and let me in. 🙂 So I got all my stuff in, and actually ended up diving right into the computer. Hehe, words of wisdoom for everyone that owns a computer. Occasionally its a good idea to break open the case on your PC and vaccuum, because otherwise, your case will look like a dryers lint trap! hehe! Yeah, anyway, the burner went in without a hitch, and we made a successful burn! yay! Adrienne can now make Cd’s to her hearts content. 🙂 So after that we hit the infamous Plymouth (the bar) for a while, then crashed back at home. Saturday we did some shopping, checked out the mall, hit the one used CD store in Erie, and I acutally made out! Live’s Four Songs, I finally picked up Creed’s Weathered, and of all things, an I Mother Earth One More Astronaut promo! After that was Target, Best Buy, I had to drag her to the thrift store, and then we hit the beach! Presque Isle State Park was a happening place Saturday afternoon, there were people everywhere! We walked along the sand for a little bit, then through a wooded area across the street from the beach. It’s kinda like two parks in one 🙂 We got back to the apartment, and when dinner rolled around, I finally got to go to Quaker Steak and Lube! hehe! I’ve heard about this place from Adrienne and Patrice both, and I finally got to go! It reminds me of a Buffalo Wild Wings type place, but this one has a patio outside, plus the entire place is racing/ automobile themed. Their claim to fame is chicken wings, and while these wings were good, certainly not bad, ya still cant get em any better than here in WNY. Ya just cant do it like we do! After dinner, we sat around the apartment for awhile, MTV had Headbangers Ball Uncensored on… the show was awesome! They’re contemplating a revival of the show, and when asked about it, Rob Zombie had this to say: “Man, kids were loyal to that show, they’d stay up till 4am to watch that! You don’t get that with TRL…”. Rock on! After that was even better, Ozzfest uncensored!!! One clip that had me rolling, for whatever reason, they had Iann Robinson at Ozzfest 2000 asking the bands what they thought about AJ from the Backstreet Boys going into Rehab… Corey Taylor from slipknot, in full gear, proceeded to mock them out by doing a BSB-type of dance… then hocked a loogie on the ground! Freakin Hilarious!!! It was bar time again after that, we met a couple of Adrienne’s friends at this place called Calamari’s… they actually played good tunes at this place too! Woke up late again this morning, and said goodbye and hit the road about 1. So thank you Adrienne for a fun weekend, and you’ll be back up here before ya know it 🙂

100 grand
Thursday, July 18th, 2002Yesterday was a do nothing day, tinkered with getting a running copy of RedHat on thrifty (its on there!). I was downstairs till like 1, between that, and marathon IM sessions with Carolyn and Rachel (Carolyn punked out early though!). Today I hit the mall, thrift store, frizb’s (used my free $10 credit to get papa roach, and the staind “Fade” single, which was $2!). But the big news of the night is:
100,000 MILES!!
yup, 100,000.0 exactly, still sitting in the driveway 🙂 But no one has any film!!!!!!!!! All I’ll have are my memories 🙂 The Woomobile enters a new era! 🙂

the state of presents for amanda
Sunday, July 14th, 2002Saturday ended up being busy, but it was like a slow busy.About 11 I took Jake to the mall to get him one of those NTHS prisoner shirts, and since they lowered the price on the other shirts by a dollar, I gave in and bought the Nickelback shirt for $4 (It’s from The State, not Silver Side Up, and I dont think Ive ever seen anyone around here wearing one). So after that I had to get Amanda’s present, so I wanted to go to Frizb’s…. but they didn’t open till 12, so what’s close? The thrift store! found amanda a little something there (havent given it to her yet), hit VIX so jake could get her a card, then back to Frisb’s, where I got her a CD, Jake got Kid rock, and I picked up the Cypress Hill rap/rock double album Skull and Bones, along with Beastie’s Ill Communication (its a classic, I had to!). So after that, I sat at home for awhile, and then went out with mom to get amanda’s cake and do a little shopping. We had a light dinner, then me and dad went to Best Buy, and since I was a captive audience, and you never know where youre gonna end up with dad, we got sidetracked to the Italian Festival (again!). That was fun though, lotsa people, lotsa food.Got back about 9, and then got Sara and Adrienne, and went down to the Chip strip, to Darcy McGee’s, the same place I had gone with Weigand thursday. Suffice to say there was a lot more people there, but it was pretty cool, they had a cover band playing too. We were outside, so it was much cooler than being all stuffy inside. About midnight everyone was pretty tired though, so we cut out and came home.
Today the relatives are coming over at night to celebrate Amanda’s birthday, so if nothing else I know I’ll be eating well 🙂 heheh! Dad re-stained the deck yesterday, and he’s satisfied that its dry because the grill is back on there. 🙂
