Review:
The first major release finds the Tea sounding almost like Led Zeppelin and The Doors wannabe’s, but not quite. They’re a little different, and that’s good. This album and incessant touring made them a household name in Canada.

The other 3/4 of Days of the New got a new singer and started a new band. Sounds a lot like a plugged in version of the first DOTN record, only better.

Review:
While Scott Weiland was having drug problems, the remaining three members of Stone Temple Pilots wrote an album and grabbed a new lead singer, Dave Coutts, and dubbed the project Talk Show. The songs sound naturally a lot like STP, and seeing as this fell between Tiny Music and No. 4, it sounds more like that era. Coutts sounds like he’s doing a bad Weiland impression to me. The DeLeo brothers really need to be working with Weiland, as this (and Army of Anyone) proved.

Review:
Some of this is great, some of it sucks. Staind’s Bring the Noise is on here, as is Dynamite Hack’s acoustic Boyz In The Hood. Nonpoint does a mash up of a couple songs in their Tribute, and Sevendust does an odd rendition of Goin Back To Cali. Everything else is pretty much a waste of time.

The second album didn’t do nearly as much for me as the first one did, but it was still decent. Hardly got any recognition though.

Review:
I saw them twice opening for Staind and Godsmack, and by the second time they grew on me. Found the album cheap and was pleasantly surprised. Decent hard rock. They were the first band signed to Lars Ulrich’s “The Music Company” label.

Review:
This is the companion half to ‘Mesmerize’, and as I noted with that release, the sound was cleaned up a bit, and the lyrics are both more political and more goofy at the same time. It’s System, but toned down for the mainstream, which is not a bad thing. The one complaint I have is considering that both albums together run 76 minutes, they could have cut some of the less stellar songs and had a really solid single-disc release. To their credit though, the packaging is of very high quality, and Hypnotize was designed to fit together with Mesmerize to form one big package, and it looks pretty cool.

Review:
System’s long awaited follow up to Toxicity has the sound cleaning up a bit, and the lyrics getting both more political and more goofy at the same time. It clocks in at 36 minutes, which makes me question why they needed to do a double disc, but whatever. The music is good, but I’m thinking the other 3 releases are still better.

Review:
A collection of b-sides and songs that didn’t make it to the first two albums. Better than just throwaway songs, they deserved to be released even if they didn’t fit on either of the albums. Part of the reason this was released at all was because demos for the Toxicity sessions were leaked onto the internet, and the band felt that rather than have terrible copies floating around, they may as well release the real things, even though they weren’t complete album worthy.

Review:
After four years, and two personnel changes, we finally have a new Fuel album. The biggest and most obvious change is that of the lead singer, as Brett Scallions left the band, and the new singer is Toryn Green. Couldnt have gotten more of a Brett sound-alike if they tried. Hes alright though, it certainly isnt bad. A lesser-noticeable change is that drummer Kevin Miller is gone, replaced by former Godsmack / Lo-Pro drummer Tommy Stewart.
But on to the CD. Um, its a Fuel CD. After four years, and after how so-so Natural Selection was, I kinda thought theyd go big or go home on this one. Well, they went medium. It sounds just like Natural Selection did, nothing really stands out, but nothing really sucks either. I thought maybe Carl would have something awesome off his sleeve, but its the same old thing. I really want to love this CD as a longtime Fuel fan, but Im not sure I can do anything more than just like it.
