Review:

“Introducing…” on her third album’ Well, sorta. Apparently the first two were what the record company wanted her to sing, and this is more what she wanted. A little more soul, a little less pop than “Mind, Body and Soul”, with cameos from Lauryn Hill and Common.

Ra – 2008 – Black Sun

By Eric | December 23, 2013 1:00 am

Artist: Ra
Title: Black Sun
Label: Fontana / SMR
Released: Sep 23, 2008
Packaging: Jewel Case
Pack-in DVD
Release Type: Standard

Tracklist:

#Faulty Information
#The First Step
#Push
#Don’t Turn Away
#Lost Along The Way
#I Believe Again
#Waste of Space
#Genocide
#A Poet’s Dream
#Easier Than This

Review:

Ra is one of those bands that keeps plugging along, even though they never seem to catch a break. And it’s too bad, because the musicianship is head and shoulders above most radio-rock bands. Black Sun continues Ra’s trend of rock that makes you take notice, great melodies, and just a touch of that Eastern twinge to keep it interesting.

Mudvayne – 2009 – Mudvayne

By Eric | December 23, 2013 1:00 am

Artist: Mudvayne
Title: Mudvayne
Label: Epic
Released: Dec 21, 2009
Packaging: Jewel Case
Pack-in DVD
Release Type: Standard
Autographed

Tracklist:

#Beautiful And Strange
#1000 Mile Journey
#Scream With Me
#Closer
#Heard It All Before
#I Can’t Wait
#Beyond The Pale
#All Talk
#Out To Pasture
#Burn The Bridge
#Dead Inside

Review:

Mudvayne has continued their slow descent into mediocrity since releasing LD50. The band on this album sounds nothing like the band on that album, as this is much more generic and watered down. Scream With Me and Beyond The Pale are the only two tracks that leave any impression on me. The packaging that requires a blacklight to read is kind of a cool gimmick though.

Korn – 2010 – Korn III – Remember Who You Are

By Eric | December 23, 2013 1:00 am

Artist: Korn
Title: Korn III – Remember Who You Are
Label: Roadrunner
Released: Jul 13, 2010
Packaging: Jewel Case
Pack-in DVD
Release Type: Standard
Autographed

Tracklist:

#Uber-Time
#Oildale (Leave Me Alone)
#Pop A Pill
#Fear Is A Place To Live
#Move On
#Lead The Parade
#Let The Guilt Go
#The Past
#Never Around
#Are You Ready To Live’
#Holding All These Lies

Review:

Korn tried to remember who they were back in 1994, throwing back to the first album with the sound on this album, and even getting Ross Robinson to produce it. They succeeded on that front, as it does sound less polished and more raw, but the songs themselves simply aren’t that great. Jon Davis’ message is kinda wearing thin after 15 years, however, I will say I like this better than most of the last two albums, as there’s far less keyboards and programming to be found here.

#Falling Away From Me
#Creep
#Love Song
#Got The Life
#Twisted Transistor
#Coming Undone
#Make Me Bad ~ In Between Days (Feat. The Cure)
#Throw Me Away

Review:

I don’t think if you would have told my 1999 self that Korn would do an unplugged album, and do it successfully, that I’d have believed you. My 2007 self had to believe it though, and this actually turned out pretty cool. Guest spots from Amy Lee and Robert Smith don’t hurt any.

Kid Rock – 2000 – History of Rock

By Eric | December 23, 2013 1:00 am

Artist: Kid Rock
Title: History of Rock
Label: Lava / Atlantic

Packaging: Jewel Case
Pack-in DVD
Release Type: Standard
Autographed

Tracklist:

#Intro
#American Bad Ass
#Prodigal Son

#3 Sheets To The Wind (What’s My Name)
#Abortion
#I Wanna Go Back
#Ya’ Keep On
#F**k That
#F**k You Blind
#Born 2 Be A Hick
#My Oedipus Complex

Review:

A compilation of sorts of tracks from two of Kid’s indie albums prior to “Devil Without a Cause”, those being “The Polyfuze Method” and “Early Mornin’ Stoned Pimp.”. Most songs were re-done or at least re-worked, but weren’t substantially changed. A couple more random tracks, and the new “American Bad Ass” that proved to be a huge hit are also included. This pretty much demonstrates how Kid Rock got to where he was in 2000.

#Abdul Jabar Cut
#Step In Stride
#The Upside
#Style Of X-Pression
#Trippin’ Over A Rock

Review:

Before he was the American Bad Ass, Kid Rock was making his name in Detroit as a straight up rapper. It sounds about what you’d expect circa-1990 rap to sound like, and Kid Rock sounds more like a kid than the raspy rocker he evolved into.

A compilation of sorts, released after the success of “Satisfaction…”. The first four tracks are the original Under The Knife 7″ release from ’96, and the others are demos.
