Review:
Even though theyre Tiffs band, I still like these guys. The Xmas standards are just that, save for a really fun version of Run Rudolph Run. The original songs sound quite promising though, if not typical Sister Hazel fare. In other words, itll be a good time album to put on once December rolls around.

Review:
As opposed to their self-titled disc, which grew on me rather slowly, as soon as I acquired this one, I instantly found things to like about it. It still took me a couple of listens to really get into it, but the Deftones really came back with SNW. Theyre still mixing up the heavy with the melodic and electronic, and theyve even thrown an instrumental track on here, with a geeky title (U,U,D,D,L,R,L,R,A,B,SELECT,START). Serj from SOAD makes an appearance on Mein, and the award for the strangest Deftones track has to go to Pink Cellphone, with a female spoken word vocal line that touches on the Hot Carling Academy, among other things. A solid listen all the way through, and seeing some of these songs live made me appreciate them a bit more.

Review:
Audioslave disbanded, or rather, Chris Cornell left just after this was released, and its too bad, because this album is much better than Out Of Exile was. The band actually branched out a bit, and it wasnt a ton of slow songs this time, they actually got some rocking in there! Even still, you know its Audioslave when you hear it, which I suppose is more of a positive. Im partial to Sound Of A Gun, Shape Of Things To Come, and Jewel Of The Summertime. This also came with a 15 minute DVD with some interviews interspersed with video clips.

Review:
It’s a very rare occasion when seeing an opening band that I’ve never heard of before impresses me so much that I pick up the CD right then and there, but Pride Tiger did just that. The Lucky Ones is a thirteen song collection of 70’s-era inspired tunes in the vein of Thin Lizzy or Boston. The songs have groove, they’re catchy, but they play with feeling, and I like the solos from lead guitar player Sonny Dhak as well. Singer/drummer Matt Wood has talent on both accounts, and the live show was great too. Hearing the songs live first, and then seeing how they translate on CD didn’t bring any disappointment. If you’re looking for something other than the same old hard rock, you just might want to check these guys out.

Review:
Released in 2005, this was a holdover of sorts until the new album (Saturday Night Wrist) was released. Having said that, and I know this echoes what practically every Deftones fan said when this was released, this could have been waaaaaaay better than what it is. If youre going to release a compilation called B-Sides and Rarities, why not put them all on there’ Left off was, among other things, To Have And To Hold (Duran Duran), Teething (Crow II Sountrack), Cant Even Breathe (Escape From LA Soundtrack), Lovers (self-titled b-side), and maybe some of the more famous demos floating around on the net. Or the scrapped My Own Summer remix that was slated for the Matrix soundtrack’ Also, the DVD has all the videos, but only a quick smattering of the tons of live clips and interviews theyve amassed over the years. Wheres the White Pony mini-film’ Argh.
Anyway, for what is on this disc, its pretty good. A previously unreleased track with B-Real called Black Moon, Savory, Wax and Wane, and a couple of acoustic versions and remixes make for a good, but not great collection. The DVD is nice in that all the videos are represented, with Engine No. 9 and Root being live clip compilations. All in all, its okay, but it could have been so much better.

Review:
After an almost 5 year timespan between albums, Maroon 5 came back with another super-poppy album dripping with double-entendres and love songs. Adam Levines sound and writing are both in full force, and if you liked the first one, youll like this one. Im a sucker for well-written, well-produced pop, and this certainly is it.

Review:
Technically the fifth release from the band (I guess The Other Side doesnt count), IV is your typical Godsmack album, but with a bit of a twist. They actually branched out a bit, some more acoustic guitars here, a harmonica line (in Shine Down) there, and you can tell that Shannon Larkin is doing something on the skins, as the drumming is better. It’s almost like they didn’t want to sound exactly the same for the fourth album in a row. And it worked, as this is easily their best album so far. However, you can obviously tell its Godsmack, so if you like them, youll like this. If not, even though they made some strides, this probably wont change your mind any. Speak, Shine Down, and No Rest For the Wicked are my favorites. Also has a hidden song, I Thought.

#The Gift (Alternate mix)
Review:
Recorded on February 22, 2006 in Philadelphia, One Cold Night is a live acoustic performance on both CD and DVD. Apparently, Shaun Morgan was suffering from a stomach ailment, and rather than cancel the show, they played acoustically instead. All of the usual hits are here, as well as the Saron Gas-era Tied My Hands, and a cover of Pearl Jams Immortality. An alternate mix of The Gift is also included. Needles and Burrito were also played, but left off the album as to avoid a parental advisory sticker on the album, these tracks were made available as ITunes downloads.

Review:
The first 36CF album is arguably their best, and while it’s not quite metal-core, it’s not quite nu-metal either. Alt-metal’ Whatever, it rocks, even if Brock Lindow’s voice takes a little bit to get used to. I was introduced to these guys by a co-worker in Tioga, and I’m glad I was!
