Review:
Mudvayne was one of those bands where I unfairly judged them due to their fanbase. As in, all the fat ugly nu-metal idiot kids always had Mudvayne shirts on, so they couldnt be that good, right’ Well, actually, going back and downloading all their stuff, yeah, they kinda are. LD50 takes the cake, but this release here was actually the demo (called Kill, I Oughta) that got them signed. The band re-released it once LD50 blew up to make a couple extra bucks while not having their fans getting ripped off trying to track down the elusive original copies. The songs are quite rough, and not nearly as refined, but you can hear the roots. Also tacked onto the end are two remixes of Dig, and then all of the interludes from LD50 put together in one 17 minute track called, fittingly, LD50.

Review:
Lamb Of God. Live. There isnt a whole lot more you can say. LoG ripped Philly for two shows during the tour for Ashes of the Wake, and this culls the best of both of those shows. The associated DVD that was released at the same time shows the intensity, but you can hear it loud and clear on this disc. Great song selection, great sound, just great.

Review:
The Killers decided that they were going to take the success they had with the synth-driven Hot Fuss and not use it at all. This is a completely different record, which while still poppy, is more rock based. And they pull it off. When I initially downloaded this, I was like, eh, Im not so sure. But the more I listened to it, the more I liked it, and it really stands on its own, apart from the last one. Good for them. I wonder what theyll have up their sleeve for the next proper album.

Review:
This is essentially a live best-of album, and it doesnt disappoint on either count. You can either take or leave Kid Rock, and most of the time, Ill take him. This live album sounds great, has all the hits, and even has the late Joe C on a couple of tracks. Nice homage to Bob Seger on the album cover too.

Review:
At long last, the newest Will Hoge! This album is a lot more melancholy than The Man Who Killed Love was, in fact, theres really only two upbeat songs on the whole record. Most of it seems to be written from the point of view of someone getting out of a messy relationship. That notwithstanding, its still a fine album, full of the songwriting and musicanship that Will is known for, Id just like it a bit happier!

Review:
Im not sure how this one slipped through the cracks on me, but it did. This is the solo debut from the former Tonic frontman, which came out in July. Ive always loved Tonic, and I knew this was in the works for awhile, but wasnt sure as to exactly when it was going to be released. While this album is a bit more melancholy and mellow than most of the Tonic catalog, its still a fantastic album. Its easy to tell that Hart was the main driving force behind Tonic, as the songcraft and lyrics displayed here are just as good, if not better than anything hes done in the past.

Review:
Even though theyre Tiffs band, I still like these guys. The Xmas standards are just that, save for a really fun version of Run Rudolph Run. The original songs sound quite promising though, if not typical Sister Hazel fare. In other words, itll be a good time album to put on once December rolls around.

Review:
As opposed to their self-titled disc, which grew on me rather slowly, as soon as I acquired this one, I instantly found things to like about it. It still took me a couple of listens to really get into it, but the Deftones really came back with SNW. Theyre still mixing up the heavy with the melodic and electronic, and theyve even thrown an instrumental track on here, with a geeky title (U,U,D,D,L,R,L,R,A,B,SELECT,START). Serj from SOAD makes an appearance on Mein, and the award for the strangest Deftones track has to go to Pink Cellphone, with a female spoken word vocal line that touches on the Hot Carling Academy, among other things. A solid listen all the way through, and seeing some of these songs live made me appreciate them a bit more.

Review:
Audioslave disbanded, or rather, Chris Cornell left just after this was released, and its too bad, because this album is much better than Out Of Exile was. The band actually branched out a bit, and it wasnt a ton of slow songs this time, they actually got some rocking in there! Even still, you know its Audioslave when you hear it, which I suppose is more of a positive. Im partial to Sound Of A Gun, Shape Of Things To Come, and Jewel Of The Summertime. This also came with a 15 minute DVD with some interviews interspersed with video clips.

Review:
It’s a very rare occasion when seeing an opening band that I’ve never heard of before impresses me so much that I pick up the CD right then and there, but Pride Tiger did just that. The Lucky Ones is a thirteen song collection of 70’s-era inspired tunes in the vein of Thin Lizzy or Boston. The songs have groove, they’re catchy, but they play with feeling, and I like the solos from lead guitar player Sonny Dhak as well. Singer/drummer Matt Wood has talent on both accounts, and the live show was great too. Hearing the songs live first, and then seeing how they translate on CD didn’t bring any disappointment. If you’re looking for something other than the same old hard rock, you just might want to check these guys out.
