I don’t really recall where I heard of these guys, but I know I got the CD out of the buck bin. Typical alternative rock/nu-metal lite. The CD kinda gets boring after the first 4 songs or so.

Review:
I really didn’t know what to expect from this album. Considering that Leave A Whisper was one of the better radio rock releases of the past year or two, a repeat of that wouldn’t have been out of the question, and wouldn’t have been bad. But the Atlanta boys went in a completely new Southern Rock direction, and it works for them. Certainly less ‘in-your-face’, but more soulful and heartfelt songs this time out. And for a refreshing change, I didn’t hear any songs that scream ‘single’, rather 13 songs that sound like a complete album. A definite sidestep of the sophomore slump for Shinedown.

Review:
I had heard Fly From The Inside on the radio when I was working down in Florida, and subsequently checked out the band once I got back home. This is simply a really good hard rock album, with a singer that has some range, and some interesting songs.

Review:
I saw the video for ‘The Power of I and I’ on Headbangers Ball, and after downloading some of the album, I found it used. Whereas The Art of Balance was their breakthrough, this album solidified their stature at the forefront of the new American heavy metal movement. I like it, and that’s all that matters to me, but it’s also been critically acclaimed by most metal critics and fans alike as a nearly perfect metal record.

Review:
The breakthrough album for these guys, The Art of Balance helped kick off the New Wave of American Heavy Metal. Solidly into the metalcore genre, this album rocks hard, rocks fast, and has excellent solos. There isn’t a weak track on here, and a nice surprise is the album closer, an amazing cover of Pink Floyd’s ‘Welcome to the Machine’.
