Review:

The album that propelled LoG into the metal mainstream, even more so than Palaces did. The lyrics are fiercely personal and politcal, but in all honesty, I bought this one more for the music initially. They switch tempo from wicked fast double-kicks to slow, chugging, sludgy passages and back again within the same song. As part of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal, these Virginians are one of the first to make the jump to a major label, as this was their first disc for Epic/Sony.

Review:

Toby’s second disc that got rid of a lot of the hip-hop influence and had more light rock appeal. This album always seemed half and half, the songs I like I really like, but the ones I don’t get skipped automatically.

Review:

Tiff and I saw Toby open for Gavin DeGraw twice in two days, and we liked her a lot. The CD has way more of an R&B feel to it than does the live show, but its tolerable.

Another Tiff album. There’s been a couple of member changes, but since it’s still Jason Wade, it’s still a typical Lifehouse album.

Review:

You can take or leave the movie, but the soundtrack was pretty damn good, first and foremost for the two unreleased Alice In Chains songs, but considering the songs from Megadeth, Aerosmith, Fishbone, and even the Tesla track, this wasn’t too bad at all.

Review:

After Ashes, the band didn’t lighten up any, and the result was Sacrement, which is both as heavy as anything they’ve ever done, but they branched out enough to make it sound interesting and different. They still have some amazing riffs, the drumming is spectacular, and the songs are all well-crafted. This was the special edition with a pack-in documentary DVD.

Review:

Technically the third album from these Virginia-based metalheads, As The Palaces Burn was the album that propelled them into the mainstream conciousness of metal fans. Every single song has great double-bass drumming, and the riffs are non-stop. If one is looking to get into the New Wave of American Heavy Metal, this album is as good of a place as any to start.

Review:

The reissue of the first album as LoG was remastered, and sounds much better. The songs, of course, are heavy as hell, and the band was really coming into their own on this disc. This version also has the until-now Japanese-only Nippon, and a couple of demos.
