Review:
I recall getting a tape sampler with Stupify on it, and thinking that it was one of the cooler songs I’d heard in awhile. The album didn’t disappoint, as just about every song is solid, and it became massively popular with everyone else too. The Tears For Fears cover of Shout was a surprise, but somehow works. Yet another Summer of 2000 CD, this was part of our soundtrack heading back and forth to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls for some Clifton Hill partying.

Saw these guys at a bar in Cheektowaga by accident, trying to see Hollowpoint. Nobody was there for this band and we must have looked interested so the lead singer gave us the CD. It’s local band hard rock / metal.

I saw Drowning Pool open for Finger Eleven before this was released. They made an impression with the live show (RIP Dave Williams), and while the album is run-of-the-mill nu-metal, its fun every once in awhile. How can you not enjoy “Let the bodies hit the… *crash*crash* …FLOOR”‘ 🙂

Review:
Disturbed goes back to their first two albums to create their third. It has the harder edge of The Sickness while drawing upon the melody that Believe brought to the table. The interesting 80’s cover song returns as well, this time with Genesis’ ‘Land of Confusion’, which I always liked, so I dig the cover also. The lyrics seem to be more straightforward and political than in the past. Musically, you can be sure this sounds exactly like you’d think a Disturbed album should sound like, and that’s not a bad thing.

The sophomore effort was pretty good, but not nearly as good as The Sickness was. This one had more melody, and was certainly radio friendly, but seemed to lack the harder edge that The Sickness had. Still a decent album to rock out to.
