Review:

CC’s second solo album, and the first after leaving Audioslave, picks up where Euphoria Morning left off, but with a couple of harder songs. This is evident with the first track and first single, No Such Thing, which starts with a bang. This isn’t to say that there aren’t slower tracks, and those sound like they could have come off of Euphoria Morning, but without the same sort of soulfullness. Chris seems to be singing in the upper register a lot more on this one, and that fact sort of turned me off at first, it’s growing on me. He’s got a very interesting cover of Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean, and also the song he did for the James Bond Casino Royale flick, You Know My Name, is quite good. However, I’m partial to track 5, ‘She’ll Never Be Your Man’. Despite all of that, while I’m warming up to this disc, I’m still not completely sold.

Sister Hazel’s guitar player strikes out on his own with a country-ish album. More Tiff’s speed than my own.

Review:

CFA opened for OLP at the Tralf way back in 1997, and I bought the album after seeing them. Its a really good album, and even though these guys aligned themselves with Matchbox 20, they never really went anywhere. Kind of a shame.

Review:

“Yeah.” Obviously “Shine” was the huge single from this, and the rest of the album isn’t too bad. This was actually an indie album, but apparently was so good Atlantic just re-released it without any changes. It went double-platinum, so someone made a good decision.

Cold – 2005 – Check Please

By Eric | December 23, 2013 1:00 am

Artist: Cold
Title: Check Please
Label: Flip / Lava
Released: Aug 30, 2005
Packaging: Cardboard Sleeve
Pack-in DVD
Release Type: Promo
Autographed

Tracklist:

#Check Please

Review:

Since I bought “A Different Kind Of Pain” at Best Buy, they packed in a one-track with a previously unreleased song, titled ‘Check Please’ (Circuit City got a piano version of Wasted Years). Since it was floating around the internet from the Year of the Spider days, I’d had it for awhile, but now I can say I’ve got it ‘officially’.

Cold – 2005 – A Different Kind of Pain

By Eric | December 23, 2013 1:00 am

#Anatomy Of A Tidal Wave
#A Different Kind of Pain
#Another Pill
#Happens All The Time
#When Heaven’s Not Far Away
#God’s Song
#When Angel’s Fly Away
#Tell Me Why
#Ocean

Review:

This album picks up where Year of the Spider left off, with Cold becoming less rough around the edges, more polished, and just plain sounding better. Scooter is singing cleaner, and the songs are more complex as well. The lineup has seen a couple of changes, as both original guitarists went elsewhere, and they moved labels from Geffen to Lava. This album was definately a step in the right direction for them, however, it proved to be their last.

Cold – 2003 – Year of the Spider

By Eric | December 23, 2013 1:00 am

Artist: Cold
Title: Year of the Spider
Label: Flip / Geffen
Released: May 13, 2003
Packaging: Jewel Case
Pack-in DVD
Release Type: Standard
Autographed

Tracklist:

#Remedy
#Suffocate
#Cure My Tragedy (A Letter To God)
#Stupid Girl
#Don’t Belong
#Wasted Years
#Whatever You Became
#Sad Happy
#Rain Song
#The Day Seattle Died
#Change The World
#Black Sunday
#Kill The Music Industry

Review:

A lot more singing from Scooter on this one, and the music was just plain better. There was more emotional, personal content this time around. Stupid Girl was the biggest single, and my least favorite song on the album. After seeing them a million times on 13 Ways, I only saw them twice on this album.
