Cake returned with Comfort Eagle, which spawned one of their most popular singles, “Short Skirt/Long Jacket”. This is the Cake we’ve come to know and love, with goofy songs such as Long Line of Cars, and underhanded jabs at record labels such as “Commisioning a Symphony in C”. This was also the first album on Columbia for the band.

Review:
Had a friend in high school that owned this, and we listed to The Distance, I Will Survive, and Nugget far too many times. Once I owned it, I discovered the rest of the album is just as great and quirky, much like the rest of the band’s catalog. This is the one that put them on the map.

The first in a long line of quirky albums from these guys. It took me until just recently to find out that a ‘Bad Moto Guzzi’ is a motorcycle, and not a play on words for Soundgarden’s ‘Badmotorfinger’. I have the remastered version that was put out after the band hit the mainstream.
