Review:

A friend in high school got me interested in Jeff Buckley, actually by accident, as she taped it on the opposite side of whatever tape I was initally interested in (which I can’t remember). Needless to say, this isn’t at all in my usual listening realm, but this folky/jangly singer-songwriter caught my attention. He usually sang in a sort of falsetto voice, and most of the songs are very stripped down, but the song compostion was incredible. A great mellow listen.

Review:

Granted, this album came out in August 2006 (and had leaked before then), but I dragged my feet on actually purchasing it. Then I saw them in February 2007, and still didn’t buy it. Then I found out that they released the special edition, and I found a coupon for $4 off from Best Buy, so that finally motivated me to buy it. Musically, this album is a bit more complete than ‘We Are Not Alone’ was. The hard songs are harder, and the melodic songs are just flat out better. I’m partial to Dance With The Devil, Topless, and Had Enough, personally.

What makes this the collectors edition is not so much the addition of the acoustic version of The Diary of Jane, since that was on the initial pressing of the regular album, but the pack-in DVD of the live show from Bethlehem, PA, shot on February 11, 2007 (the day *after* the show I went to in Buffalo). The DVD was well produced, and has a 5.1 mix. The setlist from my show was better! 🙂

Review:

An EP named for the huge single. Features an acoustic version of the song, two new songs (Blow Me Away and Ladybug), and live versions of Away and Breakdown. Ladybug is so-so, and the live tracks aren’t anything super special, but the acoustic So Cold is very well done, and Blow Me Away sounds more like what should have been on We Are Not Alone.

Review:

I actually had So Cold for a while before bothering to check out the rest of the album. It’s a decent album, however Saturate is a better CD than this. The Billy Corgan co-produced songs kinda drag the album down a bit (Rain and Forget It), and I could have done without “Rain”. Naturally, the Japanese release has an extra song (Ordinary Man) which would have been better suited to being on the real album! This is the original version with the acoustic version of Rain, not the full-band re-release.

The first time I heard ‘Polyamorous’ I kinda went ‘eh’. Then the second album came out and I downloaded them both, and I liked it (and the rest of the album) the second time around. I actually listen to this quite a bit now.
