Review:
World Fire Brigade has sold over 10 million records between its members. It all started with the veteran songwriting trio of Brett Scallions (front man of the multi-platinum selling band Fuel and lead vocalist with Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger of The Doors), Sean Danielsen (lead singer and guitarist for Smile Empty Soul) and Eddie Wohl (producer/mixer for Anthrax, Ill Nino, Smile Empty Soul, Jesse Malin, Dry Kill Logic, 36 Crazy Fists, and H2O).
The trio began writing & recording songs with the idea of possibly licensing them out or getting them to other artists, but it evolved into much more when the songs began to smolder. It became clear that their powerful material was meant to be performed by Scallions, Danielsen and Wohl themselves. It got to the point where we looked at each other and said, ‘You know, this is too good to give away , says Scallions. We need to do this for ourselves. It’s much heavier than anything I ever did with Fuel. We’re doing a lot of stuff in lower tones which is a first for me.
Ken Schalk (Fuel, Candiria) provides all the drums on Spreading My Wings and the album also features guest appearances by Pearl Jam s Mike McReady, Anthrax s Rob Caggiano, and Andy Andersson (Fuel, Black Robot).
