Review:
Wayne and Tony return with yet another incarnation of the Static-X lineup, this time with new drummer Nick Oshiro (Seether), and it marks the return of original guitarist Koichi Fukuda. This is a good thing, because this release inches closer to what Wisconsin Death Trip was, which in my opinion is still their best record. But on to this one. A bit less polished than Shadow Zone, it rocks hard, and the songs are getting catchy again. Wayne’s a little easier to understand this time around also. The lyrics are angrier, but I’ve always kind of considered them secondary with this band. There’s the trademark Otsego track on here, this time it’s Otsego Amigo.
I bought the special edition with an hour-long DVD included, with the making of the album, some rehearsal songs, some live songs, and the entire album mixed in 5.1 surround.

Review:
The third album actually had them trying some melody, and it works in spots, but overall this album doesn’t grab me like the first two do. It’s not terrible, but it could have been better.

Review:
Static-X tried to go straight metal on this album, and while its a solid album, and I enjoy it a ton, it doesn’t have the quirkyness that made Wisconsin Death Trip as fun of a listen as it was.

Review:
Electronic-tinged metal with some injected humor. This album is heavy, but doesn’t take itself too seriously. Plus Wayne has cool hair. A really fun album to listen to.

Review:
While unmistakably a Staind album, and not really breaking too much new ground, it’s a little different. The production values on this are a bit slicker, and the first song, ‘Run Away’ almost reminds me of a Breaking Benjamin song. It has the requisite Aaron Lewis melodies, and Mike Mushok actually throws in a guitar solo or two. Thankfully, its a progression from 14 Shades, and every song doesn’t sound the same.

Review:
The fourth Staind album was a touch mellower than the previous three, and Aaron was singing even more. I like this album a lot, but its still at the bottom of the Staind pile for me.

The hugely successful third album. It’s Been Awhile, coupled with Outside, made this one of the hugest CDs of 2001.
