Review:
Maxs growl got a little deeper on this one, and it nudges this album just a bit higher than Beneath the Remains. Dead Embryonic Cells is a classic.

Review:
I only got into Sepultura as a result of my interest in Soufly, and again, better late than never. This coupled with their next album, Arise, are two of the best thrash albums of all time. The title track and Inner Self are the highlights.

Review:
This is Sepulturas second LP, but the first with the now-classic lineup including Andreas Kisser on guitar. A huge step up in production from the Bestial Devastation / Morbid Visions efforts, this album really begins to show off the thrash sound that would be developed on later albums. Since the copy I got is a re-release, its got a couple demo versions and a re-recorded Troops Of Doom as bonus tracks.

Review:
With the advent of the compact disc, this 1986 album was released with the very first Sepultura EP from 1985, Bestial Devastation, tacked onto the end. Having said that, the production on these albums certainly left a bit to be desired, but the beginnings of a great metal band can be heard in there. Both of these were recorded with the original guitarist, Jairo, and as such the releases have a bit of a different feel than the rest of the Sep catalog. I mainly bought this just to have, for the sake of completeness, as opposed to something Im going to spin all day every day.

Review:
The long awaited follow-up to Disclaimer has the band growing a little bit. The songs are better, the instrumentation is a little more complex, and the vocals are clearer. It helps that theres a cohesive band around Shaun Morgan this time, and while the songs largely have the same structure as the last one, there is a nice variation on this. I still like this one the least of the three, however.

Review:
In addition to adding 6 new songs and a remake of Broken, the entire album was remixed. This was a turn for the better, as there are little parts that got buried or simply werent there in the inital release, making for a much more interesting listen. Not that the original was anything to sneeze at, but I never listen to that one anymore, preferring to spin this instead.

Review:
After hearing Fine Again on the radio enough times, I found I rather liked the rest of the album, and they’re good live also. Theyre trying to bring grunge out of the 90s and theyre succeeding.

Review:
The second album from Seemless sounds much like their first self-titled disc. Fronted by Jesse Leach (the singer for the first two Killswitch Engage albums), the southern-influenced stoner rock type songs sound good, yet all sound the same. The first album had a bit more diversity than this one, and while none of the songs are bad, none of them really stand out either. A good disc to have on in the background.

Sounding like the second coming of Alice In Chains, but not an outright clone, this album is actually very good. I found these guys through the infamous Megadeth sampler.

Review:
This first album by these guys was hard to find, and rightfully so. Compared to the self-titled disc, this sucks. Hard. It’s like it’s not even the same band. Looking at Wikipedia, it’s not, save for one guy. Apparently “It’s Coming After” has a cameo by Layne Staley.
