Review:
This is the American version, but Atlantic decided that they couldn’t leave well enough alone, and decided to drop I Miss New Wave, Let’s Get It On, and Going All The Way, and add remixed versions of three Underdogs songs (Deep Six, Apparitions, and Everything Is Automatic) in their place. Not stopping there, they also decided that ‘machine gun’ and ‘kill’ were too naughty of words to put on the back cover in their respective song titles (A Boy and His Machine Gun and Born To Kill). Adding to the insult, it wasn’t released until 2001 (it came out in Canada in 1999) right before The Audio of Being was about to come out in Canada.

Review:
After Underdogs, MGB got even bigger in Canada with this album, which spawned four singles and videos. This album made Matt Good a household name north of the border. A solid rock album with nary a bad tune.

The album that got me into MGB, and solidified their status as a great Canadian rock band. I had heard Indestructable and Everything Is Automatic on Toronto radio, and became hooked after seeing him on the side stage at Edgefest ’98 in Barrie.

After a bunch of demos, MGB’s first real album came out to a warm reception in Canada. It had three singles, and is still the biggest-selling independent album in Canadian history. Obviously, I was late to this party and got the A&M re-release.

Review:
Yes, I own Maroon 5. It took me forever to get it too. However, patience is a virtue, because I got the Australian import version for the same price as the regular American version, and got a bunch of nifty differences. The bulk of the album is the same, but strangely, Not Coming Home is a live version (in the middle of the album!). Then there’s the requisite bonus tracks: A b-side called Rag Doll, acoustic versions of Harder to Breathe and This Love, and then the Kanye West remix of This Love. And a different cover. Oh yeah, needless to say, yes, I actually like these guys. 🙂
