A one track for the remix of Sick Of It All. This was only given to street team members (of which I was one for that album).

Review:

More generic nu-metal that I found a two-track promo for, so I decided to drop the 5 bucks for it to get it used. It’s okay, not great, not terrible.

Fort Minor – 2005 – The Rising Tied

By Eric | December 23, 2013 1:00 am

Artist: Fort Minor
Title: The Rising Tied
Label: Machine Shop / Warner Bros
Released: Nov 22, 2005
Packaging: Cardboard
Pack-in DVD
Release Type: Standard
Autographed

Tracklist:

#Introduction
#Remember the Name
#Right Now
#Petrified
#Feel Like Home
#Where’d You Go
#In Stereo
#Back Home
#Cigarettes
#Believe Me
#Get Me Gone
#High Road
#Kenji
#Red to Black
#Battle
#Slip Out the Back

Review:

While Linkin Park was taking their extended time off after Meteora, Mike Shinoda did the Fort Minor project. This was a full-on hip-hop album, instead of just the hints that he’d drop on the LP records. To my untrained hip-hop ear, it sounds pretty good (i.e., this is hip-hop I can definitely handle, and rather like!). There’s a number of guest stars on here, including John Legend, Jonah from Far, and even Mr. Hahn from LP.

Various Artists – 1998 – For The Masses: A Tribute To Depeche Mode

By Eric | December 23, 2013 1:00 am

Artist: Various Artists
Title: For The Masses: A Tribute To Depeche Mode
Label: 1500 / A&M
Released: Aug 4, 1998
Packaging: Jewel Case
Pack-in DVD
Release Type: Standard
Autographed

Tracklist:

#Never Let Me Down Again
#Fly On A Windshield
#Enjoy The Silence
#World In My Eyes
#Policy Of Truth
#Somebody
#Everything Counts
#Shake The Disease
#Master And Servant
#Shame
#Black Celebration
#Waiting For The Night
#I Feel For You
#Monument
#To Have And To Hold
#Stripped

Review:

Interesting tidbit about this tribute album: God Lives Underwater was going to have their version of ‘Stripped’ on this disc, but were forced to change when Rammstein threatened to pull out of the project due to their desire to also cover ‘Stripped’ (which was also the hidden track on their album). Since Rammstein was a bigger name at the time (and would theoretically help to sell more records), they were allowed to keep their (decidedly inferior) version, while GLU opted for ‘Fly On The Windscreen’ instead.

Flaw – 2004 – Endangered Species

By Eric | December 23, 2013 1:00 am

Artist: Flaw
Title: Endangered Species
Label: Republic / Universal
Released: May 4, 2004
Packaging: Jewel Case
Pack-in DVD
Release Type: Standard
Autographed

Tracklist:

#Medicate
#Endangered Species
#Recognize
#Wait For Me
#Many Faces
#All The Worst
#You’ve Changed
#Tuen The Tables
#World’s Divide
#Decide
#Final Cry
#Not Enough

Review:

The second Flaw disc was a progression from the first, but not all the fans agreed with it. To me, half this album is very strong, and the other half is only so-so, and overall it’s not as good as Through The Eyes was. But again, even though it was better than most of the other crap out there, no label support = no sales = band breaks up.

Flaw – 2001 – Through the Eyes

Released: Oct 30, 2001
Packaging: Jewel Case
Pack-in DVD
Release Type: Standard

Tracklist:

#Only The Strong
#Payback
#My Letter
#Get Up Again
#Whole
#Amendment
#Scheme
#What I Have To Do
#Inner Strength
#Best I Am
#Out Of Whack
#Reliance
#One More Time

Review:

This is one of the best records, bar none, to come out of the nu-metal genre. Chris Volz can both sing and scream, and the music is heavy but melodic. I saw them open for Cold and loved them, then after getting the record and seeing them open for Sevendust I liked them even more. I still listen to this quite a bit.

Five.Bolt.Main – 2005 – Venting

By Eric | December 23, 2013 1:00 am

Artist: Five.Bolt.Main
Title: Venting
Label: Rock Ridge
Released: Sep 13, 2005
Packaging: Jewel Case
Pack-in DVD
Release Type: Standard
Autographed

Tracklist:

#The Gift
#Pathetic
#Wait In Line
#Broken Compass
#What You Are
#Slip
#Breathing
#Seem To Be Fine
#Life Of Mine
#Descending
#Made Like This
#Bid Farewell

Review:

Brought to you by the former lead singer of Flaw (who broke up after two albums), and a couple of guys that were in a previous incarnation of that band. Having said that, this sounds like a progression of the two Flaw albums, and that’s a good thing. ‘Depressing Aggression’ I’ve heard these guys described as, and that’s accurate. Chris Volz can sing quite well, and it shines through. The songs are fairly heavy (in a Seether or Disturbed vein), and they threw in a ballad, which works. If you like the heavier end of what’s on the radio, you’ll dig this.

Finger Eleven – 2003 – Finger Eleven

By Eric | December 23, 2013 1:00 am

Artist: Finger Eleven

#Other Light
#Complicated Question
#Stay In Shadow
#Good Times
#Absent Elements
#Thousand Mile Wish
#Conversations
#Last Scene of Struggling
#Panic Attack
#Therapy
#One Thing
#Obvious Heart

Review:

The self-titled third album. Put them over the hump and into the mainstream with ‘One Thing, which ironically I think is their worst song of all. The rest of the album is good though, except for the other single they released, “Thousand Mile Wish”. This was the inital special edition with a pack-in DVD, which had a documentary and a subset of a live show that I attended in Buffalo, shot on April 17, 2003.

Finger Eleven’s second album was stylistically much like Tip, but saw them mature as songwriters and performers. A solid collection of songs, and really no filler at all.
