Review:
This is the album advance promo version of Up Off The Floor. Thankfully, this version actually had the volume levels set correctly, and sounds the way the retail copy was supposed to sound. Interestingly enough, the track order was different than that of the four year old leaked internet copy, and four of the tracks were mislabeled on the insert. Like the retail version, this is missing “Fame” and “Choir Boy” from the leaked copy.

Review:
This album had been leaked on the internet for nearly four years or so before it finally got released in stores. Unfortunately, Megaforce Records completely screwed up the release on a couple of different fronts. First, the mastering for the retail copies was butchered by normalizing the volume across the whole disc. This means that there are no highs or lows in the songs, everything is exactly the same volume level, which makes it sound unbelievably flat. Mercifully, the promo copy of the album was mastered correctly, so it is possible to hear this the way it was supposed to sound, and I was fortunate enough to snag a copy on EBay. Secondly, when the album originally leaked, there were two additional tracks available. A cover of David Bowie’s “Fame” actually got released on the 15 Minutes soundtrack, but Choir Boy never officially saw the light of day. Thirdly, the tracks that did get released were not put in the same order that the leaked copy had them in, so all the fans that had been listening to the leaked album for four years were jolted and surprised at the revised (and inferior) track order.
As for the music itself, the tracks harken back to the Empty/EP days with a lot more guitars, blended with the electronics of the Space Age era. The songs are really good, and the production was very well done. Had this been released in 2000 as planned, I think it would have been a popular album, but since it took four years (and it was six since Space Age was released), people forgot about GLU and this got buried.

Review:
This album took a long while to grow on me, as it wasn’t nearly as heavy as Empty and the EP were. A huge Depeche Mode influence on this album also. From Your Mouth became a minor hit, and I can remember driving down to New World Records to get this the day it was released because one would receive a free t-shirt when buying the album. I still have the shirt, and it’s still way too big. 🙂

Review:
I had heard ‘All Wrong’ on the radio way back in the day, and promptly forgot who the band was. Rediscovered them right about the time I found out they were coming to Showplace (on my 18th birthday!) right before “…So-Called Space Age” came out, and I picked up this and the EP at the same time. I still listen to this quite a bit.

Review:
This came out before the self-titled album did, and includes a couple of songs not on the full-length. Oddly, this was not censored, while the album was. More nu-metal that kinda sounded like everyone else, but was catchy in spots.

Review:
The only album from these guys. It’s hard rock, lost in a sea of other bands that sound just like them. It’s a decent disc, and interesting because one of the songs obviously had a swear word in it, yet it was blanked out so the album didn’t have to get a Parental Advisory sticker (like the Wax Box EP did).

Review:
The third Fuel album was a disappointment compared to the other two. The songs were rather bland, and nothing really jumped out as a super strong song. It’s good, but after the other two, its not great. Won’t Back Down is easily the best song on here.
