Review:
It’s hard to believe that I’m just getting around to getting this disc now, but I’ve been listening to this for quite awhile now. Simply put, Jack Black and Kyle Gass are funny. This album is hilarious. It’s got Wonderboy, Tribute, F#$% Me Gently, Dio, and a bunch of other funny tracks. I don’t really need to say much more!

Review:
Right after the death of Mother Love Bone’s Andrew Wood, two of the remaining members of the band, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament needed an outlet to make music again. Right at the same time, Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell had penned a couple of songs (Reach Down and Say Hello 2 Heaven), and as opposed to doing them solo brought them to Stone and Jeff for consideration. After adding a newcomer, Mike McCready, and grabbing SG’s drummer Matt Cameron a project was formed, music was made, and an album released. Not much was made of it until a certain guest on this album, Eddie Vedder, got famous with his new band and the Seattle scene blew up. Having said all that, this album is spectacular
and untouched by any of the hype since it was released prior to the scene becoming the scene. Obviously, it has a PJ-esque sound to it, and Chris Cornell’s signature vocals, but certainly stands on its own.

Review:
The roots of the dynamic Canadian band. Half of this is redone on Splendor Solis, but the half that isn’t is just as interesting. Good luck finding an original copy of this one, as mine is burned, but I include it in my CDs because I found complete printable liner notes, and there’s no way I’ll ever actually find a real copy.

Review:
Supposedly this was their straight-ahead rock album. I hoped they’d gotten it out of their system, because while this would be a great album for most any other band, for the Tea Party it almost seems like a lackluster effort. The songs are good but not great. Only one, Luxuria, comes close in quality to anything they’ve done prior. The rest of it, especially the Bob Rock produced songs are too commercial and sound like everyone else out there. He ruined Metallica and Our Lady Peace, and he kinda ruined the tracks from this fine band too. Finally, Jeff Martin’s lyrics seem to have gone to the repetition school of writing, sometimes only having one verse get repeated two or three times. After all that, I like the album, but I don’t think I’ll ever love it. Much like Metallica’s later stuff, what would be great for anyone else is only so-so for the Tea Party.

Review:
The Interzone Mantras release saw a bit less of the Eastern influence, but still had the songcraft that made the previous albums excellent. Cathartik is possibly one of the best Tea songs ever with the awesome guitar solo in the middle.

A greatest hits collection, introducing a brand-new song called Walking Wounded, and adding some b-sides that hadn’t been released to that point.

Review:
They promply lost the fairweather fans with a mellower follow-up, but kept the original fans with a record that encompassed everything else they’d done to that time. I saw them a bunch on this tour.

Review:
The Tea came back with an angry electronic vibe on the next record. Hard, but still concious of melody, this album gained them a lot of new fans who liked the harder edge.

Review:
A remix album of sorts, as the Indian instrumentation was taken to its next logical progression on remakes of a couple EOT tunes. There’s one original featuring Roy Harper called “Time”, and then a true remix of Sister Awake plus a CDROM portion highlighting all of the rare instruments used during the recording process.

Review:
Still the definitive Tea record to me. Starts with Fire in the Head, and doesn’t let up from there. The song writing, the instrumentation, and the singing/lyrical content are all amazing. The Eastern Indian influence can be heard all over the place, and makes for an engaging listen. There were something like 30 different instruments used on this album.
