The Greatest Hits from one of the artists I grew up watching MTV with. Hurts So Good was one of my absolute favorite songs as a little kid, and I learned to appreciate the rest of his output as well.

Review:
Matt Good went through a divorce, a stay in a hospital for manic episodes and bi-polar disorder, and came out the other side with this album. A bit more bleak, a lot more direct, and a lot of just Matt. He did most of the instrumentation on this collection, which includes two covers (Dead Kennedy’s Moon Over Marin, and Daniel Johnston’s True Love Will Find You In The End).

Back with a vengenance! Jamey and the boys haven’t lost a step, nor an ounce of anger since Supremacy. They’ve branched out slightly, with perhaps the first hints of melody ever on a Hatebreed record, but also some of the hardest songs they’ve ever done. Per usual, a couple of instant live favorites to be found also (Not My Master, As Damaged As Me).

I’ll preface this by saying I really like Breaking Benjamin. Which is why I hope this album grows on me. Initial reaction tells me this sounds just like Phobia, with a a couple of standout tracks, and couple of good tracks, and 1 or 2 I don’t care for. This is a good album, it’s a solid release for Breaking Benjamin, but so far, I’m left wanting a little more. Time will tell for sure.

It’s only been 13 years. A lot of people were skeptical of how AIC could continue without Layne Staley. Those critics were answered with this new album, as William DuVall steps in and gives a fantastic performance. To say nothing of the rest of the band, who sound like AIC would 13 years later. It’s still heavy, it’s still gloomy, and it’s still great.

Review:
No sophomore slump here. This picks up right where “The Way Of The Fist” left off, and actually got a little better. The harder tracks rock even harder (No One Gets Left Behind, Bulletproof, War Is The Answer), and the slower tracks are very well done (Crossing Over, Far From Home, Walk Away). This is the deluxe edition with two bonus tracks and a 1/2 hour DVD included.

Review:
The latest release from the Seattle fivesome is arguably their most upbeat and “happiest” record. It’s also one of their shortest. These facts in no way are a detriment to how good of an album this is, and how good the songs are. Lots of solid, pure, “rock-n-roll” tunes, and a couple of ballads, including “Just Breathe” which sounds as if it could have come off of Eddie’s solo album. Also of note, since the album was self released, they didn’t wait for a traditional Tuesday release date, and instead gave the record exclusively to Target for a Sunday release. All the artwork was done by political cartoonist Tom Tomorrow.
