Review:

After hearing Fine Again on the radio enough times, I found I rather liked the rest of the album, and they’re good live also. Theyre trying to bring grunge out of the 90s and theyre succeeding.

Seemless – 2006 – What Have We Become

By Eric | December 23, 2013 1:00 am

Artist: Seemless
Title: What Have We Become
Label: Equal Vision
Released: Sep 5, 2006
Packaging: Jewel Case
Pack-in DVD
Release Type: Standard
Autographed

Tracklist:

#In My Blood
#Cast No Shadow
#Numb
#Eyes of a Child
#The Deep Below
#Seven
#Jaded
#Maintain
#Parody
#…Things Fall Apart

Review:

The second album from Seemless sounds much like their first self-titled disc. Fronted by Jesse Leach (the singer for the first two Killswitch Engage albums), the southern-influenced stoner rock type songs sound good, yet all sound the same. The first album had a bit more diversity than this one, and while none of the songs are bad, none of them really stand out either. A good disc to have on in the background.

Sounding like the second coming of Alice In Chains, but not an outright clone, this album is actually very good. I found these guys through the infamous Megadeth sampler.

#It’s Coming After

Review:

This first album by these guys was hard to find, and rightfully so. Compared to the self-titled disc, this sucks. Hard. It’s like it’s not even the same band. Looking at Wikipedia, it’s not, save for one guy. Apparently “It’s Coming After” has a cameo by Layne Staley.

#Pride
#Fine Again
#Empty
#Tied My Hands
#Take Me Away
#Driven Under
#Stay And Play
#Your Bore

Review:

This was the previous incarnation of the band everyone now knows as Seether. I actually had to import this album directly from a music store in South Africa. Half of the songs are early versions of songs that ended up on Disclaimer, and the other half are only found here. There is far less production on this album, but its cool in that its got a real rough and gritty feel. The band obviously matured from this point, but this is a snapshot of what the band was about to become.

Saliva – 2007 – Blood Stained Love Story

Artist: Saliva
Title: Blood Stained Love Story
Label: Island
Released: Jan 23, 2007

Pack-in DVD
Release Type: Standard
Autographed

Tracklist:

#Ladies And Gentlemen
#Broken Sunday
#Never Gonna Change
#King Of The Stereo
#One More Chance
#Going Under
#Twister
#Black Sheep
#Starting over
#Here With You

Review:

Im not 100% sure why I continue to like these guys, maybe theyre a guilty pleasure. This album is easily the weakest of the four theyve put out, as besides the lead single Ladies and Gentlemen, and the derivative King Of The Stereo (as David Spade would put it, I liked this better the first time around, when it was called Click Click Boom), the rest of the album is pretty soft, yet typical Saliva fare. Much like the rest of their stuff, its okay, fun to listen to once in awhile, but certainly wont make any favorites lists.

The follow-up to Sweet Oblivion, this continued the trademark Lanegan vocal sound, and had a semi-successful single in All I Know.

Screaming Trees – 1992 – Sweet Oblivion

By Eric | December 23, 2013 1:00 am

Artist: Screaming Trees
Title: Sweet Oblivion
Label: Epic
Released: Sep 8, 1992
Packaging: Jewel Case
Pack-in DVD
Release Type: Standard
Autographed

Tracklist:

#Shadow Of The Season
#Nearly Lost You
#Dollar Bill
#More Or Less
#Butterfly
#For Celebrations Past
#The Secret Kind
#Winter Song
#Troubled Times
#No One Knows
#Julie Paradise

Review:

Back when I was trying to gobble up everything related to Seattle, I grabbed this after hearing “Nearly Lost You” on the Singles soundtrack. Mark Langegan has a distinctive voice, and the guitar work is absolutely grunge. These guys sadly got lost in the shuffle of everything else going on in Seattle, and the in-fighting didn’t help them much.
