Review:

36 Crazyfists are an interesting band to me. I was introduced to them by a co-worker from Tioga, and at first, I was a little put off by Brock Lindow’s voice, but I liked the music immediately. I’ve since come around to the vocals, and actually rather enjoy this band now. Rest Inside The Flames is the third disc from these Alaskan boys, and went in a bit more of a metalcore direction than they had displayed previously, but also had some of their most mellow moments at the same time. Brock’s switching from singing to screaming and back is still on display, and the guitar work is quite heavy. Howard Jones from Killswitch Engage guests on Elysium, which makes it one of the standout tracks.

Review:

The third 3DD album. Some of the songs are more mature, but it sounds like there’s filler on this album that I didn’t hear on the other two albums. They do a song with Bob Seger that’s not too shabby (Landing In London).

A live EP put out in-between Away From the Sun and Seventeen Days. It sounds like 3DD, nothing mind blowing, but it’s not horrible either.

The second album, I got the version with the pack-in DVD, with the mini-documentary and a couple of songs mixed in 5.1 surround. Everyone knows these songs, and it’s decent pop-rock.

Review:

Everyone knows all the songs on this disc, and they were grossly overplayed, but it’s not terrible. Fun to listen to every once in awhile when I don’t want to have to think about what I’m listening to. Their live show was pretty uninspiring around this time too.

Review:

I first saw 2SJ’s at one of the Edgefests in Buffalo, and thought they were goofy and funny, so finding the album for $2 was pretty cool. It’s really fun rock-rap type stuff, and the one single, (718), was very catchy. Besides, who else is gonna sing a song about how “Pluto… is a planet!””

137 – 2005 – Force Controlled Culture

By Eric | December 23, 2013 1:00 am

Artist: 137
Title: Force Controlled Culture
Label: Watchmen
Released: Aug 23, 2005
Packaging: Jewel Case
Pack-in DVD
Release Type: Standard
Autographed

Tracklist:

#Wrecking Ball
#Force Controlled Culture (FCC)
#In Vain, Pt. 1: Midnight)
#Slug

Review:

137 is a Rochester-based band that plays a sludgy, very heavy brand of metal (comparisons can be drawn to Type O Negative). I got this CD by way of one of their guitar players, Denise, who used to work at the racetrack. The four songs on the EP definately showcase the band’s talents, and the production is outstanding, I’ve heard nationally released CD’s that aren’t as crisp and clean sounding. While I usually like my metal a bit faster, this is certainly a nice change of pace.

#Broken
#The Way I Feel
#Open Your Eyes
#Home
#Fade Away
#Back Up
#Soulfire
#In My Head
#Running Out of Pain
#My Life
#Eric’s Song

Review:

I got a promo DVD for two of the singles off of this album, and figured I’d check it out. The only claim to fame this band has is that the lead singer Paul McCoy, was ‘the other guy’ on Evenescence’s ‘Bring Me To Life’. Apparently they’re a Christian band. Generic alt-rock, but its catchy enough to get listened to every once in awhile.

The movie was okay, one of Tiff’s favorites. The soundtrack has some covers, some originals. Letters To Cleo does Cheap Trick’s ‘I Want You To Want Me, and the Save Ferris and Sister Hazel songs are good.
