10/31/2000 (hed)pe, Agent Me (Buffalo, NY @ The Sideshow)
By Eric | October 31, 2000 11:59 pm
Halloween. 5 Bucks. (hed)pe. What the hell more could I ask for? Showed up in the middle of Agent Me’s set, they’re some local band, they were okay. I was very surprised at the lack of people in the beginning… got a barrier spot right away. (hed) comes out… better than the two Rochester shows combined!!! Mostly the same setlist, BUT THEY PLAYED FIRSTY THIS TIME!!!! During the chorus part, Jahred stuck the mic right in my face for the “You must be confused, you must be confused if ya think I give a f*ck!” part. Holy crap! Then after the show I snag a pic AND a setlist…. got it signed by everyone except Wes (go figure, I got him both times before!) All the other guys were mad cool in hanging around to talk and sign stuff… WOW!

10/24/2000 POD, (hed)pe, Project86 (Rochester, NY @ Water Street)
By Eric | October 24, 2000 11:59 pm
Project86 was okay, the lead singer reminded me of Serj from System Of A Down just on his facial expressions and such… they werent too bad, I got into a couple of the songs… I was waiting for (hed), and they ripped shit up again, sounded better than with P.Roach… played almost the same setlist as before, except for Jesus (of Nazareth), which is ironic considering that POD and Project86 are both Christian bands… why (hed) was on this tour baffles me… anyway, POD came out after a lengthy set change, played Southtown second, then I left to meet some of the (hed) crew, got autographs from BC and Wes this time around… fun wow!

10/07/2000 Stone Temple Pilots, Disturbed, Liquid Gang (Buffalo, NY @ SUNY Buffalo Alumni Arena)
By Eric | October 7, 2000 11:59 pm
Liquid Gang kicked this off with a bang… got the crowd into it, lots of energy. They played Show Me, Diagram, Rain, A Better View, Breakdown, Closer and Blunt Force Trauma. We met all the guys after the show and got autographs, real nice and down to earth guys. I had high expectations for Disturbed, and to me they seemed a bit flat. I expected a lot more energy from them, David Draiman was running around, but for whatever reason, it was just, ehh. Played 10 of the 12 songs on the album, closed with Stupfiy. Then STP came out… Weiland was in top form, just like at Darien Lake. A good spread over all 4 albums, and we got Dead and Bloated, and Creep this time!! Weiland went into the stands on the right hand side during Plush… came back out for a two song encore with an American Flag draped around himself, they closed with Sex Type Thing, at which point Scott put the flag around his waist and dropped his pants! As they walked off stage, the flag was removed, and we all got to see Weiland nekkid! So on the whole, a very entertaining show… 🙂

10/02/2000 The Tragically Hip (Rochester, NY @ Auditorium Center)
By Eric | October 2, 2000 11:59 pm
What a show… $25 for 2 and a half hours!! These guys are performers. Played all the usual favorites, including Nautical Disaster, New Orleans is Sinking, Courage, Little Bones, etc… Played Greasy Jungle and Long Time Running, which I was told were very rare occurances, I was surprised to get An Inch An Hour as well. Gord was off the hook with his on-stage mannerisms and ramblings and what not, and the rest of the band sounded very tight. What a place to see a show as well! The Auditorium Center holds approximately 2500 people, and the acoustics were perfect. The crowd was amazingly loud, and very well mannered. In all one of the better shows I’ve been to in awhile!
Pics thanks to Jenn Graley.

Here’s the whole show!

09/22/2000 Nine Days, Johnny Society (Rochester, NY @ RIT Clark Gym)
By Eric | September 22, 2000 11:59 pm
Good thing it was only 5 bucks… Johnny Sociery blew chunks, I mean, these guys (and one girl) were horrible. Yadda yadda. Then Nine Days came out, and for a pop band, had no energy at all. A real lackluster performance, and everything sounded the same. The whole crowd got into “Absolutely (The Story Of A Girl)”… but that was about it… the usual one-hit-wonder show typical of RIT…

08/31/2000 The Tea Party, Hundred Mile House (Thorold, ONT @ Arizona’s)
By Eric | August 31, 2000 11:59 pm
Amazing. The Tea never fail to put on a great show. A good sprinkling of songs from over the 4 albums… They played Jeff Buckley’s “Halleluia” into NIN’s “Hurt” as an insert to “Save Me”. Then during the encore, in the middle of Sister Awake, they did U2’s “Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” into David Bowie’s “Heroes”. Just an awesome show. Hundred Mile House were okay, nothing spectacular, but they didnt suck either…

08/29/2000 Papa Roach, (hed)pe, Not Waving But Drowning (Rochester, NY @ Water Street Music Hall)
By Eric | August 29, 2000 11:59 pm
Not Waving But Drowning was from St. Louis, and I don’t recall being very impressed at the time. I do remember the bass player really being all-in on his performance though.
As I said in 2000: “(hed) RIPPED SHIT UP. Period. Opened with Killing Time, (not in order now) and played Serpent Boy, Circus, Waiting To Die, Bartender, I Got You, Jesus (of Nazareth), Stevie, and closed with POS. Amazing. I was actually up front the whole time (whoo boy was it hot… reminded me of the Funhouse for LB and Deftones at ESL…) Got autographs from M.C.U.D. and Wesstyle after the show.”
I don’t think I stuck around for much of Papa Roach, and I don’t remember why, other probably being too cool for school at the time.

08/27/2000 103.3 Edgefest: Mest, Sum41, Nickelback, Fenix-tx, Eve6, Shelia Divine, Harvey Danger, Goldfinger, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Papa Roach (Buffalo, NY @ LaSalle Park)
By Eric | August 27, 2000 11:59 pm
This edgefest sucked. I primarily went cuz I had nothing else to do on a sunday… Nickelback was pretty good, everyone else was rather blah. Didnt stay for bosstones or P. Roach… Highlight of the day was Goldfingers set… they brought out one of their friends to do a cover of “The Thong Song”, and this dude actually had a thong on!! (eww gross)… Then he brought out a giant inflatable penis… mad funny! But that was about it… everything else just kinda sucked.

By Eric | August 16, 2000 11:59 pm
Yes, Wang Chung… another freebie! It was a lot better than I expected, and the one dude can really wail on the guitar! There werent a whole hell of a lot of people there… It was supposed to be 21 and over, but the cool security guard let us in anyway…

By Eric | August 15, 2000 11:59 pm
Fishbone was okay, nothing too exciting…
STP blew the roof off the dump. What an amazing set! Played Sour Girl acoustically, then came out for a one song encore of “Sex Type Thing” which totally made my day. Nearly got into a fight during “Big Empty” with some drunk dude that Karl ended up knowing from work. (I still woulda kicked his ass!)
